Woke up with Zara on my bed. When she try to move she was really crying , a cry we hadn’t heard before. She didn’t seem interested in chewing on her bone. As the day went on, every time she moved she had this gut wrenching cry. By night she wouldn’t move and all thru the night we were up every half an hour to an hour to clam her down. This we were not prepared for. Couldn’t wait till morning to call the vet. The kids were upset by her crying in pain. Missy stay away from her!
The first few weeks are really tough. But hang in there, it will get better. My Nova is 18-months post-amp and cancer free. Keep thinking pawsitive, Zara WILL get through this.

Sorry to hear about Zara’s rough night. Crying out suddenly can just be side effects from pain meds, or sometimes indicates phantom pain. Be sure to review the tips for managing phantom pain in dog in the Tripawds Downloads blog.
And, as hard as it may be to not run to her side to comfort her every time she cries out, make sure you are not reinforcing the behavior. It’s still very early, Zara will have good days and bad. Try to remain strong and she will follow your lead.
Oh. Please let us know how she is tomorrow. I hope the vet was able to locate the problem, Poor kid.
