Day 7

Zara slept the whole night thru.  YAY.

It was a nice surprise to see her sitting up.  She seem a little more happier today.  We got the dogs some bones today and it was nice to see Zara out of her bed working out how to hold a bone while chewing on it.  Missy decided Zara had the bed for a week now and it was her turn to have it.  Zara wasn’t happy about it and sat there looking and crying at missy who was not taking any notice at all.  We got missy out of the bed and Zara jump straight in , but missy decided she was going to hop in as well.  Again Zara was not happy.

It been great to see her out of bed and sitting up for a while having a few pats.  Zara still is crying in pain, and seem a little unsettle.  We are wondering if it cos she been up and moving a little bit more today.

  1. glad to see zara is a little more responsive…it takes time and it’s pretty scary when you don’t know what exactly to do to make it better. she’s lucky to have you guys looking after her!!

  2. Sounds like things are looking up for Zara. The whimpering and unsettled behavior may still be reactions to the pain meds. Once off her medication, she should act herself once again. But it is early and she still needs lots of rest and time to rebuild her strength. Thanks for the updates!

  3. Poor Zara! What happened? I can’t find your story.

You’ve had to go through your amputation and none of us have noticed! I’ll get the gang over here to cheer you up!

But it looks like la-la land suits you! Not all of us look too swell when we sleep, but you look super cool!

Tell you mommy or daddy, that all the grown up types like the forums for some quick answers and support. http://tripawds.com/forums/

For me, the forums are way too sappy for me! My mommy goes there but she’s a sap (a lovable sap)! I like to flutter around on the blogs myself!

Zara, I’m gonna check in on you to see how you are doing – in the meantime girl – keep healing. And if you need me to bop Missy for getting in your bed, let me know. Actually, I’ll have Gayle, our Tennessee Tripawd do it. (those southern gals are tough!)

    See ya –

  4. Zara, you look beautiful!! We’re sorry to hear you’re still crying out – I wonder if it could be the meds she’s on, or phantom limb pain? You might want to read up on that in the forums. It seemed to help Holly when we iced her incision – we used a bag of frozen peas and wrapped them in an old kitchen towel and gently held it against her incision. I woner if that might help Zara?
We hope all goes well now for her!
    Hugs,
    Holly and Holly’s mom
