Day 12

Dave and I went away for a day/night and left Zara in good hands.   We also stop her pills.   She been sleeping lots during the day in our room and going under the bed and getting stuck.  She walking around a lot better now and taking herself to the toilet.  She decided it was time she went for a drive to drop the kids off at school.  She can get into the car by herself but needs help getting out.  She is off to the vets later on today to get her stitches out.

Been a long 12 days so far.

Day 8

Zara is so much better today.  She took herself to the toilet 3 times and when Dave picked up the car keys to go out, she went to the door to go with him, so she had an outing today!   Been sleeping all evening with the odd little wimp saying, come look at me!

Day 7

Zara slept the whole night thru.  YAY.

It was a nice surprise to see her sitting up.  She seem a little more happier today.  We got the dogs some bones today and it was nice to see Zara out of her bed working out how to hold a bone while chewing on it.  Missy decided Zara had the bed for a week now and it was her turn to have it.  Zara wasn’t happy about it and sat there looking and crying at missy who was not taking any notice at all.  We got missy out of the bed and Zara jump straight in , but missy decided she was going to hop in as well.  Again Zara was not happy.

It been great to see her out of bed and sitting up for a while having a few pats.  Zara still is crying in pain, and seem a little unsettle.  We are wondering if it cos she been up and moving a little bit more today.

Day 6

Zara slept most of the day and still not moving, having to be carried out to go toilet, she still looks like she in la-la land.  She still wimping and crying but not as much as the past 24 hours.  Dave and I are really tired looking after this little girl.

Missy seem real quiet as well, I guess she misses having Zara following her around all the time and fighting who going to sit in the front seat when we go in the car.

Day 5

A trip to the vets once again, we needed to increase her pills.

She wouldn’t move and very very much in la-la land with all her pills.  We had a few hours of not hearing her cry.   Hope we get a good night sleep and Zara herself sleeps better.

Day 4

Woke up with Zara on my bed.   When she try to move she was really crying , a cry we hadn’t heard before.    She didn’t seem interested in chewing on her bone.  As the day went on,  every time she moved she had this gut wrenching cry.  By night she wouldn’t move and all thru the night  we were up every half an hour to an hour to clam her down.  This we were not prepared for.   Couldn’t wait till morning to call the vet.  The kids were upset by her crying in pain.  Missy stay away from her!

Day 2

Early hours of the morning, Zara sat up  and try to walk, falling flat on her nose.  Dave slept in the lounge with her, so it was a nice surprise when i got up to see her sitting and trying to walk toward me!

Day 1

It was so sad to take her to the vets knowing what was about to happen.  The kids were real sad to say good bye to her before they left for school.  Dave and myself took her and we both found it hard to leave her.

We had an appointment   back to the vets at 5pm to bring her home.  When we got to the vets , they said she might not be coming home tonight as she just didn’t look right.

We got to see her, and she was very happy to hear our voices and to tell us all about her day.  The vet decided she could come home.

Our Story About Zara

A few days after we got Zara

Hi, My name is Carlene, I have a partner called Dave.  We decided to add to our family by getting a rotti pup.

Zara  gave our family a lot of   joy.  We also have a 5 yr old bichon frise (missy).

Zara loves to play with Missy, not sure if Missy likes it.  Her favorite thing to do is play with the toilet paper and skateboard.

Missy and Zara playing

At nearly 5 months old Zara left front leg  just didn’t look right and after going for some walk she would be limping.  A trip to the vets and a x ray showed that she had broken her leg about 4-6 weeks ago.  She showed no signs of having a broken leg.   She was limping because her leg stop growing.   The vet said they could try to fix it but wasn’t sure if it would work as she broke it in growth plate and her leg had stop growing   The other choice was to remove it.    Dave and myself spent a lot  of time looking on you tube at other rottweiler dogs with 3 legs.  So this is where Zara story really begins.

Notice her left leg is bent and her shoulder is slightly lower
